Hi, I'm Wei Xiang, I'm a freelancer
Having worked in an international tech company for 3 years and attained senior software engineer position following my graduation, I quit my job and became a freelancer, learning and creating something exciting of my own.
I was born in a remote county in Chongqing, China
That place occupied my whole childhood and teenage years. It's a lovely small county, but also less developed. During those years, I rarely had any chance of traveling out or even went to the center urban area of chongqing.
After my graduation from junior high school, thanks to my parent, I had the opportunity to participate in a summer camp led by some foreign teachers and volunteer college students in Beijing, which had greatly borden my horizon and also ignited my desire to explore the world outside chongqing.
I studied Computer Science in Chengdu
At the age of 18, I graduated from senior high school and got enrolled by UESTC in Chengdu. At the second semester of freshman year, I became a full member of a software programming studio organized by some senior students, learning iOS development there.
Joining this studio might be the most right decision I made during college years. Before college, I basically had no experience of programming, but learning in this studio open a new world to me. Moreover, it offered me precious opportunities to learn advanced programming skills and technologies, to study with creative peers and seniors. Most important, I made some close friends there.
I gradually become a junior full stack engineer after college
After failing in postgraduate entrance examination, I went to Bytedance, working as an iOS software engineer. A year later, I transitioned as a backend software engineer until my resignation. During part times, I learned web development by myself and started doing some web side projects
Skills & hobbies
I'm capable of a few skills and hobbies, from professional to amateur. Currently, I'm not planning to extend more skills or hobbies even though I am always glad to try something new. Stepping deeper on one or two specific fields is my focus now, fields like machine learning, space vision and music.
